Using me as a test subject? [Idia jokes, a bit of a smile to go with the extra tone of humor in his voice, still poking at the meal even if he likes it. Just how he eats; picking and pecking at bits.
Then glances up as she says that, his expression softening a little,] Never thought would have anyone to call that. Or call me that.
[Despite her look of offense and tone to those words, Idia can't help but chuckle, a hiss of laugh from between his teeth as he grins, not taking it seriously at all. It's just food after all. And yeah, she takes it a lot more serious than Idia does. He really doesn't care about food, as long as it covers the nutrients he needs, and preferably was fast to consume, who cares? He didn't even really care about taste that much. Was better if tasty, but wasn't a huge factor to him.
And while Persephone gains a smile, Idia's slips away, eyes down as he pokes at his food.] Not sure how good a one I can be...
[...really?] How? By, ah, sex? T-That count as friendship? [Idia's never really had friends before. Well, he had an online friend, back home, but that's no longer possible with him being here and the whole... destroying his world thing going on. Did he have friends on the Train he had been on before? Certainly had people say he was their friend even if Idia didn't think he was. So... yeah, maybe he does have friends?
Or did. Did have friends.
Well... has one now though, with her talking like that.] ...whatever. I guess... glad you put up with me... whatever I am doing 'right'.
It does here. [Idia echoes with a sigh. Yeah, this is the reality of living in Duplicity.
It's the next bit that catches him more off guard. He... really hasn't thought about it. Or hasn't wanted to think about it. The idea of 'making friends'. Idia had in the last place he was taken, even if he had never wanted to. And look what happened? He lost them all. He had been selfish and chosen a path that would give him a chance to see them again and destroyed his world by doing so. It would had been better if Idia had never made any friends, hadn't wanted to try to see them again, hadn't been selfish.
Him being selfish always ends with everything going wrong.
His gaze dropping to his plate, poking at it with his fork as his expression drops... before he forces it into something neutral. But lacking emotion. Something to cover up those thoughts. Knowing he has to say something to that.] You've been real good to me. [Idia's tone reflecting that emptiness. Shoving all emotions away. Just getting the job done to keep the conversation going.]
[ The way he speaks perplexes her. She tilts her head a little and gives him a concerned look. She doesn't know what's going through his head or all that he's gone through. ]
[A lot of things. How does Idia even answer this?] I'm just... not used to having friends. Or... wanting friends.
I-I keep losing them. [A frown on his face as more poking before lifting to eat another forkful. It was still good, even if his mood soured the meal for him a little.] Hard to keep going on wanting to try making them when it keeps happening. [FFS. Stop sulking. Grow up. You know this is normal. Idia pausing to give a sigh, a frown as he pushes his hand through his hair.]
Forget it, it's fine. It's normal. [Everything eventually dies. Including connections. It's fine. It's expected.]
Oh. Well, that's okay, I didn't have many before I left home. [ She smiles, though it is a little sad. Hearing that he keeps losing his friends reminds her of her nymphs and of those she met here only to have them vanish. ]
It might be normal, but it doesn't make it hurt any less. It's fine to grieve those you've lost, but you also have to learn to move forward.

[ Raw fish may never be a problem if she's cooking, but she does make a mental note of it. ]
Of course, I'm always happy to cook for my friends.

She smiles, expression soft as well. ]
I don't see why not. I'm glad to have you as a friend.

And we have time to get to know each other and become better friends. [ She smiles at him before taking another bite. ]
