Laughing, Cater readily offers, "if you need any help, I'm happy to lend a hand!"
Like he even needs an excuse to bodily drag Idia out of his hidey holes. Looking around, though, he hums.
"I'm sure you'd be able to find a shooter-type game like Star Rogue. Let's see..."
Trusting that Ortho will follow, Cater leaves the dance machines behind to scope out the other consoles. Fighting games, side-scrollers, racing games...he stops. "What about this one?"
It's just labeled SPACE QUEST and seems to be pretty generic, but you can control a space ship as it navigates through the cosmos, facing down obstacles and various enemies.
Oh! That was a good start, a space theme. "That looks good. Let's see!" Ortho's gotten used to walking at least, he still struggles sometimes since it's new, but also is new enough it's exciting, an extra bounce to his step. Almost like an excited kitten finding a new toy to play with.
It looked like a good fit! But testing was needed to make sure it would keep up to his brother's high standards. "We're playing two player, right?" You'll play with him, not just watch, right?
Oh, but, "Do you like these kind of games? What games do you play, Cater Diamond-san?"
"Of course I'll play," Cater assures. Really, how could he say no when Ortho was so clearly excited? "I like all kinds of games, so this works just fine for me! I'll just have to try not to slow you down."
He winks at Ortho as if they're sharing in a joke, examining the controls.
"You're definitely the captain of this ship. Ready when you are!"
"Ok!" Ortho will do his best then! Situating himself in front of his controls, sorting the payment to start the game, picking two player, and...
It starts ok yet as the levels picks up... Ortho starts losing lives. His brow furrowing as he does, fingers almost stumbling over the controls rather than moving fluid how he should be used to playing. Strangely enough for the Shroud reputation, he's out of lives before Cater is, frowning at the controls and screen as Cater's side keeps going.
For the most part, Cater is focusing too hard on his own side of the screen to glance over and see how Ortho's doing. It's obvious enough, however, when the boy is out of lives. Is it because he distracted himself, or because he feels bad that he takes damage immediately--and before much longer is out of lives, himself?
Don't need to pander to him, Cater. Ortho's used to playing against Idia, has the memories of 'him' playing against his brother, he's fine with losing. Gaming isn't always winning, it's about fun.
But that is not his concern right now, that frown still in place as he looks down at human hands, not doll-like jointed pieces of metal and casing. Bone, flesh, and blood. Not wires and mechanical joints. His voice soft as he speaks, "This body is not responding how I am used to. I should had realized that when I was learning to move and walk. I forgot to consider it would be with gaming too." Not just how his hands moved, but how his eyes and brain processed the game now. It was... slower. Harder.
Ortho quiet for several moments, then looking up to Cater, "Being human is hard."

"Ah! It's way harder than it looks!"
